Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy describes how Hive Labs Technologies Inc. ("Hive Labs," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you use Hive (the "Services"), available at askthehive.ai.
By using the Services, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy and our Terms of Service.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Information you provide
When you use the Services, we collect:
- Wallet address — your public Solana wallet address when you connect a Wallet
- Authentication information — if you sign in through Privy using email or a social account, the email address or account identifier you provide
- Match parameters — the risk tolerance, timeline, capital amount, and other inputs you provide to generate matches
- Communications — any messages you send us through email or other channels
1.2 Information collected automatically
When you use the Services, we automatically collect:
- Usage data — pages visited, features used, time spent, click events, and similar product analytics, collected through PostHog
- Device information — browser type, operating system, screen resolution, device type
- IP address — used for fraud prevention, security, and approximate geographic information (city/country level)
- Cookies and local storage — small data files stored on your device, including:
- Authentication cookies and tokens (via Privy)
- Local storage entries for your wallet connection state and your acknowledgment of our Terms of Service
- Analytics cookies (via PostHog), associated with your connected wallet address
1.3 Public blockchain information
When you transact through the Services, your transactions are recorded on the Solana blockchain. Blockchain data is public, immutable, and not controlled by Hive Labs. We may read on-chain information associated with your wallet address (such as token balances and transaction history) to provide the Services. We do not control what is recorded on the blockchain or who can access it.
2. How We Use Information
We use the information we collect to:
(a) Provide the Services, including building, simulating, and broadcasting transactions based on your parameters;
(b) Display your positions, balances, and earned interest in your dashboard;
(c) Authenticate you and maintain your session;
(d) Record your acknowledgment of our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy;
(e) Detect, prevent, and respond to fraud, abuse, or security incidents;
(f) Analyze how the Services are used to improve product features, performance, and user experience;
(g) Communicate with you about the Services, including support requests and material updates;
(h) Comply with legal obligations, respond to legal requests, and enforce our Terms of Service.
We do not sell your personal information.
3. Third-Party Service Providers
The Services rely on the following third-party providers, each of which processes certain information on our behalf or independently:
3.1 Privy
Privy provides wallet authentication infrastructure. If you connect using a self-custody wallet (e.g., Phantom, Backpack), Privy facilitates the connection but does not collect personal information beyond what is necessary for the wallet handshake. If you connect using email or a social account through Privy, Privy may collect the email address, social account identifier, and related authentication data. See Privy's privacy policy.
3.2 PostHog
PostHog provides product analytics. We send usage events (page views, feature interactions, errors) to PostHog along with your connected wallet address as an identifier. This allows us to understand how individual users interact with the Services and to improve product features and performance. We do not send wallet private keys, seed phrases, or other sensitive credentials to PostHog. See PostHog's privacy policy.
3.3 Helius
Helius provides Solana RPC infrastructure. Transactions you initiate through the Services are routed through Helius infrastructure as part of normal blockchain operations. Helius may log IP addresses and request metadata in accordance with its own policies. See Helius's privacy policy.
3.4 DeFiLlama
DeFiLlama provides aggregated pool and protocol data feeds. We receive data from DeFiLlama; no user data is sent to DeFiLlama.
4. How We Share Information
We may share information:
(a) With service providers identified in Section 3 to operate the Services;
(b) With legal authorities when required by law, court order, or to protect our rights, property, or safety, or that of users or others;
(c) In connection with a business transaction such as a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, in which case we will notify users before personal information is transferred under different terms;
(d) With your consent for any other purpose disclosed at the time of collection.
We do not sell or rent personal information to third parties for their marketing purposes.
5. Cookies and Tracking Technologies
We use cookies and similar technologies for:
- Essential functions — maintaining your session, remembering your wallet connection, and recording your acknowledgment of our Terms
- Analytics — understanding how the Services are used (via PostHog)
You can disable cookies in your browser settings, but doing so may affect the functionality of the Services.
6. Data Retention
We retain information for as long as necessary to provide the Services and comply with legal obligations. Specifically:
- Wallet connection records — retained while your wallet is associated with the Services and for a reasonable period afterward for fraud prevention and legal compliance
- Analytics data — retained for product analysis, associated with your wallet address
- Communications — retained as needed to respond to your inquiries and for our legitimate business purposes
- Blockchain data — permanently public on the Solana blockchain; we cannot delete this
When information is no longer needed, we delete it or anonymize it.
7. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the following rights regarding your personal information:
7.1 General rights
- Access — request a copy of the personal information we hold about you
- Correction — request correction of inaccurate information
- Deletion — request deletion of your personal information (subject to legal exceptions and the immutable nature of blockchain data)
- Restriction — request restriction of certain processing
- Objection — object to certain processing, including for analytics
7.2 If you are in the European Economic Area or United Kingdom (GDPR)
You have the rights listed above, plus:
- Portability — receive your information in a portable format
- Withdraw consent — withdraw consent where processing is based on consent
- Lodge a complaint — with your local data protection authority
7.3 If you are in California (CCPA/CPRA)
You have the rights listed above, plus:
- Right to know what information we collect, use, and share
- Right to opt out of any sale or sharing of your personal information (we do not sell personal information)
- Right to non-discrimination for exercising your rights
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at privacy@askthehive.ai. We will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law.
Important note about blockchain data: We cannot delete or modify information recorded on the Solana blockchain, including your wallet address and transaction history. This is a function of how blockchain technology works and is outside our control.
8. Data Security
We use industry-standard measures to protect personal information, including:
- HTTPS encryption for data in transit
- Access controls limiting who can view personal information
- Monitoring for unauthorized access
However, no security measure is perfect. The non-custodial design of the Services means we never have access to your private keys, seed phrases, or funds. You are responsible for the security of your Wallet.
9. International Data Transfers
We are based in the United States. If you access the Services from outside the United States, your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States or other countries where our service providers operate. By using the Services, you consent to this transfer.
For users in the European Economic Area or United Kingdom, we rely on standard contractual clauses or other lawful transfer mechanisms when transferring personal information outside those regions.
10. Children's Privacy
The Services are not intended for individuals under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18. If you believe we have collected information from a child under 18, contact us at privacy@askthehive.ai and we will delete it.
11. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated by posting an updated version with a new effective date through the Services. Your continued use of the Services after such changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.
